As I described in Red Carpet Green Beauty, I was shocked to learn that this line was natural and non-toxic. The products perform and feel like conventional prestige skincare, with the same great slip and elegant formulas. Not so shocking, however, when you realize they had to rival the best non-green brands: Tracie Martyn skin care and its eponymous salon in Manhattan cater to those who are constantly in the spotlight. How It Works

Who doesn’t love a good mask?

Who loves the bright (read: embarrassing) colors of most masks? And the mess that inevitably results when you’re trying to remove said hardened bright mask?

Enter Tracie Martyn’s Complexion Savior. It’s a clear gel that comes in an airtight pump and allows you to mask without anyone knowing it. It calms and soothes the skin, rebalancing the redness and uneven tone that result from too much stress or not enough sleep (my problems exactly). It infuses the skin with oil-free moisture, so all skin types can use it. And it helps clear blemishes and prevent new breakouts from forming.

How To Use It
You can leave it on as a mask for the face and neck for 5-15 minutes, or use it as an overnight treatment. It’s a savior during long flights because it keeps skin calm and hydrated, and it’s transparent so you won’t need to hide from the other passengers. No brightly colored mask shame with this stuff.

Kudos too for the smart packaging. You pump the product out of an airtight push-down pump, meaning the ingredients remain stable. With most masks you have to remove the lid and expose the entire contents of the jar to air and light, not to mention to bacteria from your fingers every time you scoop out the product. The base of the formula is organic Aloe Vera gel that calms and soothes the skin. Some of the other impressive ingredients are:

It quickly reduces the redness, itching and irritation associated with inflammatory skin problems like psoriasis, rosacea and eczema. It does so safely and naturally without the side effects of other treatments like topical steroid creams;
• hawthorn berry extract contains infection-fighting properties and antioxidants that help heal and prevent blemishes and breakouts;
• Malachite extract is part of Tracie Martyn’s trademarked Gemceuticals® technology (see details below). The Malachite stone is rich in copper and helps to regenerate the body's principal antioxidant, glutathione;
• Does not contain: synthetic emulsifiers, synthetic preservatives, dyes, synthetic fragrance, sulfates, parabens or mineral oil.

Through a series of processes, Malachite helps to regenerate glutathione. Mark Hyman, MD, called glutathione “The Mother of All Antioxidants” because It’s the chief antioxidant produced by our cells. The Result?
Complexion Savior feels like a refreshing drink of water for my thirsty skin. It’s excellent for treating blemishes, redness, rosacea and dry skin. It soothes, hydrates and plumps the skin and also provides moisture protection before and after travel.

The best mask for me is the one I will use. Those high-maintenance masks that leave me looking like a green zombie, or that crumble off all over the place once they harden, unfortunately end up collecting dust on my bathroom shelf.
